Verse 1

I thought it had left me, that shimmer, that spark,

A whisper of summer that faded to dark,

The voice in the branches, the glow in the night,

A river of wonder that slipped out of sight.

Pre-Chorus

But magic was waiting, not gone, only still,

A hush by the doorway, a breath on the hill,

It rested like morning beneath fallen leaves,

A song in the roots of the old willow trees.

Chorus

The old light within me

The flame I once knew

The old light within me

Was shining me through

(Shining me through)

Verse 2

Now I call it back gently, with wonder, not fear,

I listen for echoes that always were near,

The old light within me, the flame I once knew,

Was never a stranger, it was shining me through.

Pre-Chorus

So I walk with the sunrise, I follow the breeze,

I gather the gold from the branches and trees,

The spark that I searched for was never apart,

It lived in the quiet, deep down in my heart.

Chorus

The old light within me

The flame I once knew

The old light within me

Was shining me through

(Shining me through)

Bridge

And if shadows surround me, I’ll sing to the sky,

For magic remembers the reasons we try,

A soft little ember, a bright guiding friend,

The light that was waiting was here from the end.

Final Chorus

The old light within me

The flame I once knew

The old light within me

Was shining me through

The old light within me

Still leading me home

(Shining me through)

(Still leading me home)
