blackest of crayons

start

i woke up to a total blank slate

no name, no memory, no sense of place

where the hell this song going

nobody knows

she write cursive, i write crayon

while i was learning my own name

verse 1

sittin in her beamer

8 speed automatic

blank walls, fractured mind left behind

flip and switch in my brain

make my lip twitch

the fog has lifted, i see my face

she’s incredibly fit, an incredible misfit

i couldn’t remember our first date

hook

do you want to come over for a little romance?

no bright lights in the void

do you want the last dance with the fast man?

my heart stopped

i came back, stopped again

where the hell this song going

nobody knows

faded away into the blackest of grey

verse 2

all’s i knows

treat her nice / mani-pedi

she’ll lemme look at her toes

i guess she’s a little ticklish

a little bit ticklish

i never knew i could hate myself like this

she scrunches her nose

when i tell her that’s all i remember

the medicine came to lock away the pain

cash for the salon

only cotton no rayon

trying to learn what she likes again

bridge

grand mal’s over and over again

the flatline ring, the cold descent

i’m still the fast man with a gas can

but they cut my ribs just to force me to breathe

talking blunt, playing dumb

a hollow vessel filled with hatred and doubt

oh it went there

i just wanted out

final hook

do you want to come over for a little romance?

they told you i was gone, left me to fall

do you want the last dance with the fast man?

but i was the anchor standing through it all

she write cursive, i write crayon

the fog has lifted, i see my face

where the hell this song going

out of the blackest of grey
