I Wanna Touch the Sun lyrics

[Verse 1]

Keep it simple, they say

Stay close to the ground

Here, the world is safe

And peaceful all around

Don't look up

There's nothing but blinding light

I'm going crazy

In this cage of rules tonight

Wax has set at my back

Feathers trapped in the seams

Each step forward

Is a triumph over fear for me

[Pre-Chorus]

Others look down

Measure depths in meters

I have a desperate need

For one thing

To touch the sky

[Chorus]

Soar, soar, high above the clouds

(My wings, my wings)

My wings will carry me to new heights

No more fear, no more doubt

Today is my day to fly

(I will fly)

I want to reach out

And touch the sun with my hands

Let the wings be wax

Let the sky be steel

Higher than the mountain ridges

Above the foolish crowd

If I’m to burn

Let it be with the dawn

I’m catching this light

Before I go blind

My one chance

My ultimate escape

Even if I fall

I created this ascent

(Soar, soar)

[Verse 2]

Higher and higher

The air grows dry and thin

Inside me beats the heart

Of a wounded yet free child

The sun draws closer

I feel its fire against my skin

This mad flight

Is my most precious gift

Here comes the first burn

And feathers scatter like snow

But in this moment

I am more than human now

I do not fear

The ocean waiting down below

I will carry this spark

In my eyes through the darkness

[Bridge]

You look down and count

In meters, in miles, in fear

Tomorrow you may say

That I was wrong

But I will be free

[Chorus]

Soar, soar, high above the clouds

(My wings, my wings)

My wings will carry me to new heights

No more fear, no more doubt

Today is my day to fly

(I will fly)

I want to reach out

And touch the sun with my hands

Let the wings be wax

Let the sky be steel

Higher than the mountain ridges

Above the foolish crowd

If I’m to burn

Let it be with the dawn

I’m catching this light

Before I go blind

My one chance

My ultimate escape

Even if I fall

I created this ascent

(Soar, soar)

[Outro]

Droplets of wax

On the scorching stones

You pity me

Yet fear is your fate

I touched the sun

I held its light

But those who stayed

On solid ground

Have no wings

None at all
