Dose of the Drink

[Vibe: Intimate Alt-R&B / Lo-Fi Duet. Warm, sensory, emotional.]

[Intro]

[Soft, warm vinyl crackle. The highly satisfying, crisp sound of thick paper unfolding. A deep, smooth, heartbeat-like bass fades in.]

[Sound of a candy wrapper peeling back slowly. A soft, melodic female hum blends with a low male vocalization.]

(Male - spoken softly):

Yeah. Just us.

Pour it slow.

[Verse 1 - Male]

[Beat drops: a soft, muffled kick, a crisp snap. The sound of thick liquid pouring smoothly into a glass, then stopping.]

Fresh paper on the floor, tearing it slow,

Cutting up the Snickers, letting the night flow.

Hear the glug-glug, watch the amber fall,

Straight from the bottle, we don’t need a glass at all.

Feel the heavy burn, sliding down the throat,

Sweet caramel melting, yeah, we’re in the same boat.

Pass it to the left, take a little sip,

Let the warm brown liquor slowly slip.

[Chorus - Male & Female Duet]

[Beat swells. Lush, warm synth pads fade in. The vocals become rich and layered.]

(Male) Snickers chopped up on the fresh newspaper,

(Male) Passing the whiskey, breathing the air.

(Female joins, voice ethereal and clear)

But we both know the truth, when the bottle is dry...

(Both) We can't drown this feeling, no matter how we try.

(Both) No dose of alcohol can wash it away,

(Both) We drink it all down, but the pain’s gonna stay.

(Female) Yeah, the whiskey burns bright...

(Both) But it can't kill the night.

[Verse 2 - Female]

[Beat strips back. Just a deep, humming sub-bass and a gentle, reversed guitar loop. Very intimate, close-mic vocals.]

[Sound of a soft exhale, like a sigh. A gentle clink of the bottle.]

Watch the shadows dance on the ceiling above,

You’re drinking down the sorrow, I’m drinking down the love.

Taste the peanuts and the ink, taste the smoke and the rye,

Looking in your eyes, seeing the same old sky.

It’s a sweet little process, a bitter little cure,

But the bottom of the bottle isn't making us pure.

Just a dose of the drink, just a drop in the sea,

It’s you and me, baby. Just you and me.

[Chorus - Male & Female Duet]

[Full beat returns, richer and wider. The bass is deep and enveloping.]

(Male) Snickers chopped up on the fresh newspaper,

(Male) Passing the whiskey, breathing the air.

(Female) But we both know the truth, when the bottle is dry...

(Both) We can't drown this feeling, no matter how we try.

(Both) No dose of alcohol can wash it away,

(Both) We drink it all down, but the pain’s gonna stay.

(Male) Yeah, the whiskey burns bright...

(Both) But it can't kill the night.

[Bridge - Trading Lines]

[Music almost stops. Just a warm, vibrating synth and the sound of a heartbeat. Very ASMR.]

[Sound of liquid pouring one last time, very slow and deliberate.]

(Male) Another pour.

(Female) Another burn.

(Male) The glass is empty.

(Female) But we still learn.

(Both) That a shot of the brown can't fix what is broken.

(Both) But in this dark room, it’s the sweetest token.

[Outro - Male & Female Duet]

[Beat slowly fades out. The rain sound returns, a bit heavier now. Soft, harmonized vocals.]

(Female) We can't drown it...

(Male) No dose of the drink...

(Female) We can't wash it away...

(Both) Just pass the bottle. Let it slip. Let it slip.

[Sound of a heavy glass bottle being set down softly on a wooden table. A final, crisp paper fold.]

(Male - whispered):

We're still here.

[Warm, lingering tape-delay echo fades into the sound of the rain, then silence.]
