Religious Divorce

Flowers adorned like a crown of gold

Blessed by life, looks of love in our eyes

Daisies bend, thoughts transcend

While the ceiling lowers down

Baby's breath and fears of death

The dust of our time spreads far and wide

Tangled little innocent angels

Invasive thoughts that come from strangers

You named the garden after me

All the flowers of disbelief

Petals open, pale and thin

Growing little rows of Zen within

EAT THE APPLE, BITE THE HALO

Now my peace is six feet below.

FEED THE GARDEN FROM MY CORPSE

In the name of religious divorce.

DRINK THE DAYLIGHT, THE SUN'S A PIT

Everything so soft, undone.

I was lovely, I was lured in.

NOW I’M HUNGER MADE PURE AGAIN

Barefoot in the marigolds

I count the birds, one by one

Like a fly on the wall, I'm just a girl

Sunshine blankets my world

Baby's breath and fears of death

The dust of our time spreads far and wide

Tangled little innocent angels

Invasive thoughts that come from strangers

You named the garden after me

All the flowers of disbelief

Petals open, pale and thin

Growing little rows of zen within

EAT THE APPLE, BITE THE HALO

Now my peace is six feet below.

FEED THE GARDEN FROM MY CORPSE

In the name of religious divorce.

DRINK THE DAYLIGHT, THE SUN'S A PIT

Everything so soft, undone.

I was lovely, I was lured in.

NOW I’M HUNGER MADE PURE AGAIN

Softly, softly

The roses lean

Red coats the pastures

Gold trims of greens

I'm a secret

Kiss away the curse

Heaven, oh baby

Something far worse

EAT THE APPLE, BITE THE HALO

Now my peace is six feet below.

FEED THE GARDEN FROM MY CORPSE

In the name of religious divorce.

DRINK THE DAYLIGHT, THE SUN'S A PIT

Everything so soft, undone.

I was lovely, I was lured in.

NOW I’M HUNGER MADE PURE AGAIN
